[Gr. halōs, threshing floor, disk (of the sun or moon), shield, halo]
1. The areola, esp. of the nipple.
2. A ring surrounding the macula lutea in ophthalmoscopic images.
3. A circle of light surrounding a shining body.
4. A ring of depigmented skin surrounding a nevus.
