Surgical removal of the urinary bladder and neighboring organs. In women, the adjacent organs include the fallopian tubes, lymph nodes, ovaries, uterus, and the anterior portion of the vagina. In men, they include local lymph nodes as well as the prostate and seminal vesicles.
