2. The smaller of two sacs of the vestibular labyrinth in the vestibule of the ear. It communicates with the utricle, cochlear duct, and endolymphatic duct, all of which are filled with endolymph. In its wall is the macula sacculi, a sensory area containing hair cells that respond to gravity or bodily movement.
