That hemoglobin that is reversibly bound to oxygen. Hemoglobin is oxygenated as blood passes through capillaries in the lungs. It is circulated to body tissues by the muscular contraction of the heart. In the tissues oxygen unbinds from hemoglobin and is used for cellular respiration.
