Taber's Medical Dictionary
ragweed
Any of approx. 50 species of flowering plants of the genus Ambrosia, in the aster family (Asteraceae) whose pollen is an important allergen. The pollen-producing period of grasses in temperate zones is from the middle of August to the first hard frost. Ambrosia allergens are abbreviated Amb by the World Health Organization.
