The formation of mature functional spermatozoa.
In the process, undifferentiated spermatogonia become primary spermatocytes, each of which divides to form two secondary spermatocytes. Each of these divides to form two spermatids, which transform into functional motile spermatozoa. In the process, the chromosome number is reduced from the diploid to the haploid number.
