Removal of a cone shaped piece of tissue from the uterine cervix to diagnose or treat cervical diseases. The procedure may be performed with a surgical knife (scalpel), carbon dioxide (CO₂) laser, or Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP).
