APUD cells

amine precursor uptake and decarboxylation cells. A class of cells, derived from the neural crest of the embryo, that produce hormones (such as insulin, ACTH, glucagon, and thyroxine) and amines (such as dopamine, serotonin, and histamine). These cells are involved in multiple endocrine neoplasia, types I and II.
