Dipetalonema perstans, a species of filaria that infects wild or domestic animals and, occasionally, humans.
In humans, the adult worm migrates to the subcutaneous tissue and produces a nodule. Rarely, the adult worm may be seen beneath the conjunctiva. This parasite is endemic in Central and South America.
