impairment evaluation

A means of measuring an employee's suitability for a particular job, esp. one in which the employee's performance may affect the health or safety of the employee or others. Some employers prefer using impairment testing rather than random drug screening to assess the fitness of workers for employment in safety-conscious work environments, e.g., hospitals.
